Established in 1987, BARC receives no subsides from the city, state, or federal government.   BROOKLYN ANIMAL RESOURCE COALITION B.A.R.C. is a not-for-profit, privately funded, no-kill animal shelter for homeless cats and dogs located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We have been in existence for nearly 20 years. Our animals come from a variety of places - the street, the police, the city shelter and other private shelters, and so forth. Dogs to be surrendered by their owners are put on a waiting list until a kennel opens up, or if we cannot take the animal in, we can place a photo and description on our page on the Petfinder.com website.
